Quiet gathering of Pagans irks Isle of Wight ministers:A group of about 200 adults and children gathered in the woods near the headwaters of the Pagan River... It was a peaceful gathering, an Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. There were no reports of unnecessary noise or disturbance during the four-day gathering of self-described Pagans.
But now, local ministers are concerned that the group, if allowed to come back next spring as they plan, could bring ``the wrong message to our young people.''
"Several ministers have spoken to me privately, and they share our concerns,'' said the Rev. Dan E. Gray, of Calvary Baptist Church in Smithfield. "These people are involved in a religious worship that centers around their `gods and goddesses.' It's little more than idolatry.'' read more...

22 accused of massacring witches: Police in Indonesia have arrested 22 people in connection with the murders of 20 villagers who were accused of dabbling in black magic.
The 20 victims were killed in attacks between July and October after locals had accused them of practising witchcraft. Detectives denied press reports that bodies had been found hanging from a tree in a local forest.read more...

Police turn to witches in manhunt: Police in Indonesia may turn to witchcraft to catch a wanted fugitive. Detectives have not ruled out using "dukuns" - types of witches - in their fruitless search for Tommy Suharto, the playboy youngest son of the former President, who is wanted on corruption charges.
Tommy himself, however, may well be consulting his own "dukun" to protect himself, reports the Straits Times. read more...
